For Students
Trinity Access Programme (TAP)
Established in 1993, the Trinity Access Programme (TAP) is an initiative that has sought to increase third-level participation among its link schools. Assumption Secondary School is affiliated to the TAP programme.
TAP helps inform students about subject selection and opportunities for educational progression to Trinity College and other universities.
Some of the TAP initiatives and activities include:
- HPAT workshops
- Scholars Ireland
- Bridge to College
- Pathways to Law
- Subject specific tuition workshops
- Trinity College campus tours
- Summer School
- College Awareness Week
- Student mentoring programmes
- Maths camps
- Culture works
The programme provides students from Assumption Secondary School the opportunity to enter third-level education through their HEAR (Higher Education Access Route) and TAP Foundation courses.
Mentoring programmes
Our teaching staff volunteers to mentor 3-4 sixth-year students, offering guidance and support throughout the year.
Three meetings take place during the year: one before Christmas, one before Mock Examinations and one after Mock Examinations.
Benefits of the programme
- It helps build our students’ confidence
- They make informed decisions before applying for college courses/choosing what they would like to do after they complete the Leaving Certificate.
- They are supported in goal setting.
- They have a forum to ask questions on education-related matters.
