Award Winners
At Assumption Secondary School we recognise and acknowledge student achievements, leadership, and contribution to school life and to the wider community.
Formal acknowledgement takes place at the following times
- Year group assemblies: are scheduled to take place every 4-6 weeks during the school year.

- Annual Awards Ceremony: our school recognises achievement, participation, commitment and contribution to the school and the community across a wide range of areas such as attendance, behaviour, academic, sports, art, music and citizenship.
- The Principal’s award: This award is presented annually to one student from any year group who has made an outstanding contribution to school life and is a support to other students. The recipient is selected by the Principal.
- Best Leaving Certificate Award: presented annually to the student who received the highest marks in our school in the Leaving Certificate.
- Best Junior Certificate Award: presented annually to the student who received the highest marks in our school in the Junior Certificate.
- University Entrance Scholarship Winners: acknowledged in May at our school Awards Ceremony.
- Mary Aikenhead Awards in honour of the founder of the Religious Sisters of Charity: Junior and senior awards are presented to recipients in the following areas in line with the education philosophy of the Religious Sisters of Charity.

- Junior Awards:
- Student of the Year Awards: These awards are presented annually. An award winner is selected from each year group from first to sixth year inclusive. The students nominated for these awards and the winners are
- Dedicated to their studies,
- Work very hard in school and at homework,
- Make an outstanding effort and participate in class,
- Are co-operative and always work to the best of their ability.
- Achieve academic excellence in their studies.
- Spirit of Transition Year Award: This award is presented annually at TY Graduation. This award is presented to the student who
- Embraced the Transition Year programme,
- Worked hard,
- Developed personally and emotionally,
- Shows generosity of spirit,
- Has time for others,
- Shows leadership,
- Is consistently positive and sets an example for her classmates.
Adele Farrell Memorial Scholarship to Dublin Business School: In January 2013 the Adele Farrell Memorial Scholarship was launched. This Memorial Scholarship was set up by Dublin Business School (DBS) to honour the memory of Adele past pupil of Assumption Secondary School (1972 – 1977).
One lucky 6th year student is awarded annually by a Selection Committee nominated by the Board of Management (their selection is based on the criteria decided by the Board). The award winners’ fees are paid for the duration of their studies by Dublin Business School.
Gaisce Awards: Gaisce, or The President’s Award, is a direct challenge from the Presidents of Ireland who want the young people of Ireland to dream big and realise their full potential.
By participating in the challenge, the values of empowerment, respect, excellence, inclusion, and equality are fostered by our young people.
Students participate in personal, physical, community, and team challenges.
The Gasice award is presented annually to TY Participants.
